Radio frequency

Radio frequency, or RF, refers to that portion of the electromagnetic spectrum in which electromagnetic waves can be generated by alternating current which is fed to an antenna. These are known as radio waves, and they are divided up into several different frequency bands.

Radio frequencies are commonly used to transmit information through the atmosphere or outer space without wires.
